Antelope Valley Superbloom
Every artist/photographer needs a creative project just for fun! Coming out to Lancaster for the superbloom with Maya was just that!!! This was her first time in front of a professional camera modeling. We had so much fun together. I loved coaching her and seeing her come out of her shell and truly shine. She is absolutely gorgeous, right?
Lancaster, California- the poppies were in full bloom and it was magical capturing the colorful fields and a few other great spots along the road.
The poppies were in full bloom and so was Maya! Some of these images were submitted to Inspiring Teens Magazine and Maya’s shot made the “Cover” and won her a scholarship!!
If you’re wondering where the best places are to see California poppies I suggest the Lancaster Poppy Reserve, Tehachapi, Red Rock Canyon and Carrizo Plains National Monument.
A few fun facts:
Orange is the color of joy and optimism.
California poppies are the state’s emblem, thought to represent the fields of gold that drew so many to the west.
Indigenous Americans even once used California poppies as medicine to combat anxiety and as a sleep aid.
From forest-covered mountains and seaside meadows to cracks in a city sidewalk, these cheerful flowers are found across the Golden State (especially in March).
