It was an honor and privilege to be the house photographer for the 2017 World of Children Hero Awards this April, held at the Montage, Beverly Hills. Gratitude and admiration to Harry and Kay Leibowitz, World of Children Founders and Caryl Stern, President and CEO U.S. Fund for UNICEF and the Honorees and Survivors!
Since 1998, World of Children has invested $9 million in cash grants and program support to more than 100 Honorees who are the driving force behind programs serving children worldwide. Through these Honorees, an estimated 30,000 children’s lives have been touched.They are the only global recognition and funding program that exclusively focuses on a broad range of children’s-only issues: health(including hunger and nutrition), education, safety and human rights.
World of Children, celebrating its 20th year, recognized four extraordinary individuals this evening.
– Arwa Damon, CNN Senior International Correspondent, was honored with the first ever WOC Crisis Award, in recognition for her work with Syrian refugee children. Damon is the President and Co-Founder of INARA, which provides life-altering medical care for children from conflict areas who have catastrophic injuries and are unable to access treatment due to war.
– Dr. Jumana Odeh founded the Palestinian Happy Child Center in Ramallah to provide treatment and care to children with trauma and neurological disorders, as well as learning and developmental disabilities.
Dr. Jorge Rojas-Zegers founded COANIQUEM in his native Chile to provide young burn victims throughout Latin America comprehensive rehabilitation treatment free of charge.
Meghan Paricha c-founded Global Youth H.E.L.P. Inc. in 2003 to harness the power of youth by developing a global network of passionate young leaders dedicated to creating positive change through health, education, and leadership programs.
The Red Carpet included, Master of Ceremonies- Brooke-Burke-Charvet, Celebrity Ambassador-Lilly Aldridge-Followill, Alyssa Milano, Rachael Roy, Cade Hudson, David Salzmar to name just a few. There were over 200 celebrity guests and supporters that came together for this inspirational evening.
